General Exams & Services

The following is a list of our general exams & services offered and the cost associated with each. Costs for services with a price range are dependent on the level of detail needed for the service. 

The prices listed are self-pay estimates; if you have insurance coverage, please contact our office so we may verify and review your copays.

Comprehensive Routine Eye Exam

$75

Purpose: Examination of overall eye health and vision, providing a glasses prescription as needed.
  • For general vision difficulties managed or corrected with glasses.
  • Diagnoses and treatment plan for minor conditions. Findings requiring further testing will be recalled for a Medical Eye Exam.

  • Recommended to be performed annual as part of your annual health check up.
  • NOT for treatment of medical conditions (pink eye, stye, foreign body, etc.)

  • Can be covered with Vision Insurance

Contact Lens Fitting/Exam

$135 - $205

Purpose: Determining and prescribing contact lenses that are safe for the respective patient to wear.
  • Provides trial lenses and prescription for soft/disposable contact lenses
  • Required for renewal of contact lens prescriptions
  • Pricing varies based on type of contact lens being prescribed.

  • Routine exam included and MUST be performed prior to contact lens fitting - cannot do only a fitting

  • Can be covered with Vision Insurance

Medical Eye

Exam

$91 - $251+

Purpose: Diagnosis and management of emergency and chronic medical eye concerns and conditions
  • Price dependent on severity of condition and detail of examination/treatment.
  • Emergency: Injury, Infection, Red Eye, Sudden Vision Change / Loss, Flashes of Light, Floaters.
  • Chronic: Dry Eye, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Floaters.
  • Additional procedures (ultrasound, photography, removal of foreign body, etc.) have separate, additional fees. Services needed will be recommended by the doctor
  • Can be covered with Medical Insurance.

Specialty Exams & Services

We offer exams for diagnosis and management of specific conditions (e.g. glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, etc.) and other supplemental services to the routine eye exam.

Prices followed by a "*" are only an estimate and final cost may vary based on the exam.
Prices preceded by a "+" are set prices and are supplemental services to the routine exam.

Specialty Contact Lens Fitting

$300*

Purpose: Fitting of a gas permeable, conventional, or hard contact lens
  • Recommended for individuals with corneal deformities or ocular conditions making soft contacts harder to use. eg. keratoconus, corneal scarring, etc.
  • Aternative for individuals who do not want to wear glasses and are dissatisfied with soft, disposable lenses
  • *Certain conditions or qualifications may deem this "Medically Necessary" and be fully covered under Vision Insurance.
  • Cost does NOT include routine exam.

Retinal Fundus Screening

Purpose: Detailed retinal photograph for analysis and tracking of ocular conditions
  • Provides HD photo of the back of your eye (retina) that is a permanent part of your record.
  • Alternative to dilation and allows for steady and detailed view of up to 95% of the retina.
  • Great for baseline recording / screening and very easy for children without need dilation.
  • Strongly recommended by Eye Care Professionals everywhere.
  • Screening not usually covered by insurance.

OCT Retinal Screening

Purpose: Ultrasound measurement of retinal tissue and optic nerve
  • Measures retinal nerve fiber thickness in microns. Excellent for tracking swelling or tissue loss over time if monitoring or suspicious of a retinal condition.
  • Recommended for family history of macular degeneration, glaucoma or if there is difficulty in correcting vision to 20/20.
  • Good for progression analysis over years in determining any degenerative conditions or monitoring healing.

  • Screening not usually covered with insurance.

Diabetic

Eye Exam

$200*

Purpose: Examination of retinal health with regards to diabetes and diabetic damage
  • Dilated Eye Exam with either retinal fundus imaging or ultrasound
  • Recommended by Primary Care, endocrinology and optometrists for any managing their blood sugar

  • Why necessary? If there is bleeding found in the eye, there is likely bleeding in the body, meaning the blood sugar is not controlled well enough.

  • Covered with Medical Insurance and sometimes Vision Insurance

Macular Health Exam

$250*

Purpose: Detailed examination of the macula to assess health and structural integirty
  • Exam in regards to conditions such as macular degeneration, or medication side effects such as plaquenil toxicity
  • Includes objective ultrasound scan of macula to assess integrity of neuro-retinal layers and subjective testing of the central 10 degrees of vision to assess sensitivity.
  • Covered with Medical Insurance

Glaucoma

Exam

$275*

Purpose: In depth testing of eye health and function to determine glaucoma stage
  • For individuals at risk for glaucoma or diagnosed with glaucoma.
  • Objective measurement of eye pressure and thickness of retinal tissues using ultrasound
  • Subjective testing (patient-dependent response) of the sensitivity of patient's visual field
  • Must be performed regularly to assess disease progression and treatment efficiency.
