Contact Lenses
What Are Contact Lenses?
They were first made, with glass, in the late 1800's to protect diseased eyes by being in contact with the eye. Now, much softer and made of silicone hydrogel polymers, they offer an alternative method of vision correction for many individuals. Contact lenses are not a necessarily a recommendation by your eye doctor, but rather an elective choice made by the patient in lieu of spectacles. However, sometimes they may offer superior correction compared to spectacle lenses and may, in those cases, be encouraged by the doctor.

Who Can Wear Contacts?
Everybody! Our ideology is everyone is a candidate for contact lenses. Unless, if it is determined that wearing a contact lens will pose a risk to your ocular health, your doctor reserves the right to refuse fitting you for contact lenses. The other factor may be contact lens just does not perform in the manner we expect. The only thing we have to do is try, and we are willing to try it all! We just need to start the fitting process with you!
What is a Contact Lens Fitting/Exam?
The contact lens exam is elective and additional to the Routine Exam. The Routing Exam confirms the health and eligibility for they eye to wear a contact lens as well as determining what prescription should be in the contact lens. A prescription will not be provided until the doctor deems it safe and you are satisfied with the result.
The fitting process provides different trial lenses (size and prescription) to determine which fits you best (comfort and vision). The entire process can take minimum 1 week, but often times more than that.

Can I Buy Contacts With My Glasses Prescription?
No, you cannot.
- Glasses sit on your nose and contact lenses sit on your eyes - that means it is a different prescription!
- Glasses can offer 100% of your prescription exactly as you need it. Contact lenses have fixed parameters and therefore may be slightly different from your glasses
- Contact lenses need to fit the eye perfectly so as to not irritate or harm the eyes. Therefore we trial different lenses to find the safest one for you. You can only purchase what is deemed safe; we don't want you to get hurt!
Type of Contact Lenses
Contact lenses differ in the material they are made from, how often they need to be replaced, and what prescription parameters they hold. With so much variety, it is important to make sure we put you in what you find comfortable.
